BIRCH (Bowen Island Resilient Community Housing) Society is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Administrative Manager to help our growing non-profit deliver on its mission to create and preserve affordable housing for our community.
In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Director to
- Support day-to-day operations and organizational growth
- Establish, refine and maintain administrative systems and procedures
- Coordinate communications with the public, including website, social media, and email updates
- Ensure compliance with society’s act requirements, such as preparing and filing annual reports
- Ensure annual renewals, such as insurance and organization memberships
- Organize board meetings, take minutes, and maintain records
- Assist in preparing reports, budgets, and grant applications
- Support staff, board and external bookkeeper with accounting tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, accounts payable, CRA compliance, etc.
Proficiency with MS Office is required. Experience with non-profit administration is an asset. Bookkeeping skills are an asset, and the role could be expanded to include bookkeeping duties.
This is a remote, flexible, part-time position of approximately 20–40 hours per month and may expand as the organization grows. Attendance at (online) evening board meetings once per month required. Availability to attend in-person meetings on Bowen Island is an asset but not required.
Remuneration will be on a contractor basis during this period as the organization expands. Hourly rate in the range of $32-38/hour + GST, commensurate with knowledge and experience.
